Place: Meadowdale Public Library, 4301 Meadowdale Blvd, North Chesterfield, VA. It’s a really nice place to play chess!!
Registration: www.vachess.org, or onsite at the library starting at 8:30 am on Saturday. Round 1 in the Scholastic Tournament is at 9:30 am. We will have an “Orientation to Tournament Chess” at 9 am for new players. We also will have a Tournament Information Meeting on Zoom on Thursday, October 2nd for new players—check our website www.vachess.org as the tournament date nears.
Round 1 at 9:30 am. Registration will close at 9:00 am if you want to play in Round 1. We recommend any NEW players show up for our “Orientation to Tournament Chess” to be given onsite at 9 am or attend the Zoom meeting mentioned above.
Sections: Play is in 4 Scholastic and multiple "Quads" Sections:
Entry Fees: $25 for Scholastic Sections, $35 for Quads. Entry Fees increase by $5 on Thursday, Oct 2, 2025.
Prizes: The event features the following awards/prizes ...
Chess Notation: Is REQUIRED for all players in QUADS and the K12 Rated Section, notation "optional but highly encouraged" in the other scholastic sectionsl. We will provide score sheets, but please bring your preferred pens or pencils. US Chess-approved electronic notation devices are authorized. Check with the Chief TD if you are not sure if yours can be used.
Chess Sets and Chess Clocks: We will provide chess sets and chess clocks for all players, but players may also use their own equipment. If you use your own clock, it must be capable of being set for the proper time control.
Pre-Tournament Zoom Meeting. We will schedule a pre-tournament information meeting on Zoom. We plan to hold the meeting on Thursday, October 2nd at either 7 or 7:30 pm. Watch the VA Chess Federation website (www.vachess.org) for information.
